Modify alternatives of a configuration

To add, delete, or update alternatives associated with a configuration or feature flag in the RelFast portal, follow the step-by-step instructions below. Please ensure that you have the necessary "Update Configuration" permissions, which are environment-specific, to perform this operation.

Instructions:

  1. Open your web browser and go to the portal: https://relfast.convolute.ai

  2. Log in to the portal using your credentials to access your account.

  3. After logging in, find and click on the "Configurations/Flags" tab in the left navigation bar. This will take you to the section where configurations and feature flags are managed.

  4. Select the appropriate Project, Environment, and Application from the dropdown menus. If defaults are set, they will be pre-populated for convenience.

  5. Existing configurations and feature flags will be displayed on this page.

  6. To modify a configuration or feature flag, click on the name of the configuration or feature flag that you want to edit. This will navigate you to the specific configuration or feature flag page.

  7. Once on the edit page, navigate to the "Alternatives" tab. This tab is environment-specific and tied to the Environments dropdown selection.

  8. Existing values (alternatives) can be changed by editing their values directly. Any changes made will instantly get reflected under the default alternatives.

  9. After making the necessary changes, click on the "Save" button to save the updated alternatives.

  10. To add additional alternatives, click on the "Add Alternatives" button. The newly added alternative will be available for consumption in Default Alternatives and Rules.

  11. To remove an alternative, click on the "remove" button against the alternative you want to delete. Note that you need to ensure that at least two alternatives are present and selected as defaults.

  12. If the delete operation fails due to the alternative being used as a default when the feature is off, change the default alternative and retry the deletion.

  13. If the delete still fails because the alternative is being used in a Rule, navigate to the "Rules" tab, and investigate the rules that have used the alternative you want to delete. Change the alternative entries for the rule or delete the rule based on business requirements.

  14. After making any changes to alternatives or rules, click on the "Save" button to persist the changes.

  15. Feature flags are modified similarly to configurations.

  16. It is important to have a minimum of two alternatives for default alternatives.

  17. The "Save" button performs client and server-side validations. Any violation in the form will be highlighted in the portal, prompting user action to correct the input.

  18. The "Is Secured" switch can be used to store the alternatives at rest in an encrypted vault for added security.

By following these instructions, you can easily manage the alternatives associated with configurations and feature flags in the RelFast portal, ensuring that your application's settings and feature options remain flexible and updated according to different environments.
